Milestone Cribbage came to be one spring morning in 1979 after working the graveyard shift. Gathered around a friend’s kitchen table were the usual after-work group of computer operators, card players, and beer drinkers, accompanied by a case of bar bottle Buds. I got the idea for a different version of cribbage, and before the morning was over, the game of Milestone Cribbage was invented. It has not changed since that day.
Milestone Cribbage is played entirely according to the standard rules of Cribbage, with the addition of two more rules. As the name implies, there are various Milestones that affect play from start to finish. Reaching these Milestones are key to winning the game. The distance one is away from the next Milestone can dramatically affect the strategy for the upcoming hand. The cribbage board is no longer one dimensional. Failure to reach a Milestone results in falling back.
The Milestone Cribbage board features a new, unique layout of the traditional game tracks to enhance the game.
As the game proceeds, each player faces multiple Milestones along the way. Many cribbage hands will support multiple strategies so each hand must be carefully examined in light of the next Milestone to be reached. The game of Cribbage dates back to the early 1600s. It was invented by poet Sir John Suckling as a derivation of a game called noddy. It can be played by two to four people. Cribbage is played primarily in English speaking countries, with millions of players in the U.K., Canada, and the U.S.A.
The object of the game of Cribbage is to essentially get as many points as you can from each hand you are dealt. The cribbage board is used to tally those points from 0 to 121. First to 121 wins.
After many years of cribbage playing I noticed one thing. During games that are relatively tight as you close in on the end (within ten points or less) you may use a different strategy based upon the possibility that pegging may determine the outcome before any points are counted. One day it came to me that it would be much more interesting if a variety of strategies could be available on EACH hand played. From that inspiration, I invented a new version of Cribbage that incorporates strategy throughout the game.
The Milestone Cribbage Board is used to delineate the Milestones that are essential throughout the play of the game.
Milestone Cribbage Boards are configured for two or three tracks, depending on model, and each is packaged in a matching protective box with the rules and pegs.
